Snapixel

How true that statement is. Snapixel is a photosharing community with stock photography thrown into the mix. It is a place where people can sell both “stock type” images and more creative ones. Not that Stock images are not creative, it’s just that you don’t see a lot of Flickr type shots available on websites like Shutterstock or 123RF. Snapixel is a very strong community based agency, where contributers can add their images to groups where other users can rate and comment on them. Image pricing is set by the photographer, so the photographer will decide how much their image is worth and set its price accordingly. Real pricing flexibility and did I mention that they offer one of the highest commission rates in the industry?

I have not yet submitted to Snapixel and have no data to report, but I do intend to send some of my portfolio through to them and monitor my progress. The Snapixel idea of offering a place for photographers (professional and enthusiasts) to sell their images at their own prices is a great one, whether or not it will be lucrative is yet to be seen. If you are a photographer who has had some of your images rejected from traditional microstock libraries for reason like “no commercial value”, you should give Snapixel a try. At the moment Snapixel upload process is slow and not very efficient when compared with the likes of Fotolia, but they are working on joining the iSyndica distribution network. When this is a reality I will be sending my portfolio through.
Worth signing up and testing the waters.
