Canstockphoto was founded in 2004. Compared with the growth of Fotolia and Dreamstime, Canstockphoto looks like they are stagnating. They only have a collection of 2 500 000 images compared to over 8 000 000 seen on competitor websites. This doesn’t mean that they are not an agency to register with, they just have slower growth. Their recent affiliation with Fotosearch is a step in the right direction. Canstockfoto is great for customers who want to buy images in bulk, the subscription plans on offer are among the cheapest in the industry. I feel that if they were able to increase their market presence, they could quite easily become a big player.

I can see from my experience with them that they are trying to build up their numbers quickly. The submission/approval process is among the quickest you will find because contributors are not required to categorize their submissions. Canstockphoto also approves pretty much anything you want to throw at them, they are by far the most lenient of all the microstock agencies I submit to. Commission levels are good, but sales are very low. I have not been with them very long and cannot make accurate judgments yet. However it is quite clear that other contributors feel similarly. I think they are a good agency to register with, submit a portion of your portfolio, monitor your sales and if Canstockphoto becomes more popular you can easily send them more images.

For buyers as I stated earlier, Canstockphoto is one of the cheapest places to buy on subscription. Use the search below to find images.
