Simple lighting setup
Warren | Monday, July 6th, 2009 | No Comments »I had absolutely no lighting equipment to use in my budget home studio. I also had very limited funds. So I needed to do my homework and research in order to get the most for my money. Ideally I wanted to get a startup home studio lighting kit. Most of these come with 2 lights, stands, softboxes or reflectors. Pretty much a basic kit that will allow me to control the lighting to some degree. If I had a larger budget I could have been a lot more selective in what I wanted, but with limited funds you are confined to certain products.
Lucky for me I was in Singapore and it was the month of the Great Singapore Sale. Literally the whole country slashes prices for a whole month. I headed straight to the photography shops and had a look at various lighting kits. Obviously the ones I really liked were way out of my price range, but I did manage to find something that I felt would give me some degree of quality and would serve my purpose of functioning in a small home studio. The Elinchrom D-Lite 4 Kit. The kit comes with 2 400w/s heads, 2 stands, 2 softboxes, sync cables and sturdy travel cases. All this and I paid US$800. Very happy, can’t wait to start experimenting with them.
